Alejandro MEZA

Alejandro MEZA

With Cronopios or without them but always around their game world, to that serious occupation that is to play when other doors are sought ... other access to the non-everyday, simply to beautify it, by abruptly lighting it in another way, to remove it from its boxes ... define it again and better.

Creative PROCESS

In my production, I use a mixture of organic and synthetic materials such as sawdust, marble dust, sands, gold and silver leaf, pure pigments, oil and acrylic. With these materials I manage to transmit the force of Mexican iconographic hybridization. In this series I incorporate a material exploration, my images arise from a monochrome mist; between skulls and symbols.

About
Alejandro MEZA

I am a plastic artist who concentrates on painting, oil and pottery monotype. I have completed several series on syncretisms and cultural symbology, the color field, and experimentation on the representation of the human form.

About my artwork

In my work I work with the spontaneity of the gesture through different pictorial means such as oil, monotype, inks, acrylics and direct pigments. The structure of these works is based on ideas of how memory interacts with the popular ethnographic image

Inspiration

The understanding of hybridization in the image helps me produce simple and original images because I transform the symbol in a personal way. In the details of my work the linearity of the character's shape stands out, since for me the understanding of the line is essential for a drawing that expresses emotions and experiences

Studies

Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Esmeralda School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving, CDMX (June 2019)

Visual arts workshop at the Galería Espacia, CDMX (2013-2014)

Painting workshop at the Tlatolcalli Educational Center, CDMX. (2012-2014)

Artistic trajectory

Drawing and painting became my passions, and at 16 I entered a gallery (SPACE) in Mexico City to work.
Painting became a way of expressing my thoughts and emotions, and little by little it became my whole life. I am currently working on a series of paintings that address the issue of hybridization in Mexican painting. With this theme I reflect my identity and that of my artistic work. I investigate what my artistic and social origins are, and this reflection helps me to understand more my method of creation.
